I also thought the same. "Be a lamp unto yourselves (and I am awaken)" and "I am the light of the world" are totally different.

At the same time, I thought this is a skillful speech to give at a church (?). There is no need to divide people into Christians and Buddhists.

One of great skills of Buddha (and awakened persons) would be to tell a story that is suitable (understandable/digest-able) to the audience.
